Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces
A revitalized the Russian player won his first championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.
The athlete, a former number one, has had a challenging season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial title since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.
The win also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.
His retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was over.
But the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an improved serve.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional victory, took control to create a decider.
He defended 4 initial chances in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, he secured the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
